Okay, so this wasn't taken today, but I was in my room studying for most of the day and didn't get a chance to go out and snap a shot

Here's a photo taken of my string of Christmas lights in my room last year. I was lying in bed one night, and had left them on for a while. Suddenly, I thought "Hey, that'd make an awesome photo!" So, I grabbed my camera from off of my desk (a Canon Powershot Sd770) and started to take photos of individual bulbs. I used the macro setting on the camera to get a clear, focused shot of the bulb in the foreground, and the lights in the background are completely blurred. I have a secret (okay, maybe not so secret) adoration for the spirit of Christmas time and winter, and I thought a shot like this would capture the spirit of the holidays nicely.

Also: I am super excited for the arrival of my new camera! I just bought a Canon Rebel XS and can't wait to have it in my possession.

Alright, it's late; that's all for now!

What's this all about?

Hey,

So, pretty much, I had this idea to make a list, daily, of the things I love, or hate or am basically interested in. I figured just making a list itself wouldn't do me any good, and decided to combine this "list" idea with a hobby of mine - photography. Pretty much, my aim is to take photos (ideally, a photo a day, but that probably isn't very feasible) and provide some discussion about the photos I take regarding why I took them and what they mean to me. I also may post some influential photographs and basic photography history since it interests me as well. I guess you could say I have something of a passion for photography; i enjoy being able to capture snapshots of everyday images that people take for granted. I don't have any educational background in photography, so I really just experiment with my camera and have fun with it, nothing too fancy.

This blog (although displayed on the internet for all the world to see) is really just for me, no one else... but if you're interested in keeping up with what I've got going on, feel free! I'd love feedback on my photography, and I'd love to hear anything else anyone has to say about what I'm doing.

Alright, let's do this.
